MARCH 2005
MICK HALLS APPEARS WITH LEAF HOUND!
Well the rumours turned out to be true, and the band’s recent show at the Underworld on Easter Sunday was made even more special by the appearance of Pete’s original sidekick and Leaf Hound founder member, the one and only Mick Halls, who was visiting the UK from his home in California.
Mick of course wrote all the original Leaf Hound songs with Pete all those years ago, and it was a real honour for the guys in the band to have him join them on stage for this gig. What made it even more amazing was the fact that before the gig, Mick had never even met the new guys in the band, let alone rehearsed with them. He just picked up his guitar and played the entire set superbly, linking up really well with Luke. It shows what an outstanding talent Mick is.
It was an explosive gig, and once again the audience reaction was brilliant. Thanks to everyone who came along and witnessed this special event. The set played was Stagnant Pool, Drowned My Life In Fear, Stray, Sad Road To The Sea, With A Minute To Go, Too Many Rock’n’Roll Times, 105 Degrees, Freelance Fiend , Growers Of Mushroom. Check out the pictures page for some pictures of the show.
As we write, Pete is currently on his way to Germany to finalise the ‘Growers’ re-release as detailed below. Next gig, Twickenham on April 8th, details on the gig page.
PETE ON THE RADIO!
Pete will be a guest of Malcolm Dome on TOTALROCK radio on Friday 25th March, from 3pm. As well as talking about the band, the interview will feature the first public airing of the new track ‘Too Many Rock’n’Roll Times’. Tune in at www.totalrock.com
IMPORTANT GIG NEWS!!
LEAF HOUND will be making another appearance at The Underworld, Camden on SUNDAY 27TH MARCH. Following the cancellation of Pentagram’s scheduled appearance there, Leaf Hound will be stepping in and teaming up with Sweden’s finest WITCHCRAFT for what promises to be a great night. And watch this space, because there may well be a special appearance by a VERY special Leaf Hound guest!
GROWERS OF MUSHROOM RE-RELEASE
We’re pleased to say that the wait is nearly over and Repertoire Records will be re-releasing the ‘Growers Of Mushroom’ album real soon. The album will be repackaged with extra pictures, liner notes and lyrics and the whole thing will be digitally remastered too. But that’s not all! As well as containing the whole original album in all its remastered glory along with the extra tracks from the previous release, it will also feature the first brand new recording from Leaf Hound in over 30 years! ‘Too Many Rock’n’Roll Times’ was recently recorded with Harvey Birrell at Southern Studios in London and is sounding rather fine. As the track had gone down so well at all the live shows, the band chose to get it recorded and put on the new release as an extra extra bonus track. A release date has not yet been confirmed, but expect it to be late March/early April.
FEB 2005
LEAF HOUND & MOUNTAIN
The gig with Mountain at The Underworld was another stormer, thanks to everyone who gave us yet another great reception. Thanks also to the legendary Lesley West and Corky Laing for a classic Mountain set. You couldn’t meet a nicer guy than Corky, who kept us entertained throughout the whole evening.
For the record, the Leaf Hound set for this one was Stagnant Pool, Stray, Sad Road to the Sea, With a Minute to Go, Too Many Rock’n’Roll Times, Freelance Fiend, 105 Degrees and Growers Of Mushroom.
The next gig will be at The Rose Room, Twickenham Stadium with the Art Wood All-Stars. More info on the gig page.
DECEMBER 2004
Thanks to everyone who gave us such a great reception at the Camden Underworld on the 19th, we really appreciate it. Thanks also to Orange Goblin and Sloth, who both played killer sets. A great night was had by all. The Leaf Hound set for this one was Stagnant Pool, Drowned My Life In Fear, Stray, Sad Road To The Sea, Too Many Rock’n’Roll Times, Freelance Fiend and Growers Of Mushroom.
Leaf Hound T-Shirts are now available and we’ll be selling them through this site very soon so keep checking the site for details.
A lot of people have been asking us about CD’s, so here’s the score. The reissue of ‘Growers Of Mushroom’ has completely sold out, so its not that easy to get hold of at the moment. We’re looking to get a fresh reissue out, hopefully repackaged and remastered, so please be patient and we’ll try to get it sorted as soon as possible. In the meantime, try to avoid the temptation of buying a bootleg. It’ll be worth the wait.
We’re about half way through the writing for the new album; January/February should see the rest of the writing finished, so that we can hopefully start recording around March or April.
Finally, we’d like to thanks all our Freelance Friends for the great support we’ve received since the return of the band. We hope to see as many of you as possible next year, especially those overseas or outside of London who haven’t yet had a chance to see the new band.
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2005 from all at Leaf Hound HQ.
.
